The Africa Asia Business Forum
The Africa Asia Business Forum (AABF) is a unique opportunity for businesses in Africa and
Asia to meet and negotiate business deals, leading to the development of business linkages and
expanded trade between the two continents. Sponsored by the United Nations Development Programme
(UNDP), the government of Japan and other international investment promotion agencies, the Forum
is designed to promote beneficial South-South business partnerships, trade, direct foreign
investment and to enhance economic and social development in Africa and Asia.
The First Africa Asia Business Forum held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in October, 1999, attracting
over 230 business people and resulting in over USD 20 million worth of business accords. The Second
Africa-Asia business Forum took place in Durban, South Africa in July, 2001. A total of 340
delegates attended the Forum events.The Third
Africa-Asia Business Forum was held in Dakar, Senegal from 13 to 15 April 2004.

PromiseAfrica
PromiseAfrica is a non-profit organization established primarily to foster a stable and
sustainable economic growth for sub-Saharan Africa through strengthening of private sector-led
trade and investment activities between the USA and Africa. It is intended to create business
linkages between Africa and the USA leading towards more trade, a transfer of technology and
capital flows between the two regions.
